/When WKBW in Buffalo demoted main Weather Anchor Mike Randall and cut his pay, most figured Randall was this/close to being kicked to the curb for good at the station.
But, a funny thing happened, Randall enjoyed being moved to weekends and the viewers liked him as well.
So, while it was thought that his last contract was his LAST contract, he has signed on for another two years.
Randall has re-upped his deal until Jan 1, 2018 and he has been with the station for 32 years.
“He has truly embraced his role of weekend weather (anchor) and feature storyteller,” said WKBW General Manager Mike Nurse in announcing the deal.
WKBW's new owner, E.W. Scripps Company, and has done some audience research that may have been favorable to Randall.
"I'm thrilled," said Randall Tuesday morning. "I felt like Sally Field. They really, really like me. At the end of this contract, I'll be 64 and I might want to keep working if they want to keep me. I like my work schedule."
