Ouch! That's Gotta Sting

WKBW in Buffalo is now owned by Scripps and the company is hiring better people and putting money into the place.

But pervious owner Granite Broadcasting and General Manager Bill Ransom cratered the station's ratings so bad, that Scripps is seeing first hand how awful it is.

Scripps came in and tried to breathe life into the very low rated morning show. They thought that a morning show centered around weather, would be different from the other guys and attract viewers.

It hasn't worked.

How bad is it?

The Buffalo News reports that last Friday, Time Warner Cable News had a higher rating than WKBW from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. and it is only in about half of Buffalo area homes.

TWCN averaged a 0.9 rating, Channel 7 a 0.8. In other words, Channel 7 went from its usual third place in the market to fourth place.

Ouch!
