ND OUT In Philly
/KYW-TV news director Susan Schiller is leaving the station. She's been the ND there for 14 years; 40 years at CBS.
FTVLive told you on April 2nd, that bets were being taken on the future of Schiller after Brien Kennedy was named the new GM. Well, it didn't take very long. Here's the memo from Schiller:
I would like to share with you a decision I have made concerning this time in my life and career. With my daughter graduating college and my son close to wrapping up his service in the military, my husband and I find ourselves at a crossroads. This seems like the best opportunity I may have to explore other options in both my professional and personal lives. For that reason, this morning I informed Brien that I would be leaving the station next month. It’s time to take a break and look forward to the future and other opportunities in my career. I have agreed to stay on and help through the transition which will give me the opportunity to thank each of you personally for your commitment and friendship.
Over the past few weeks, I have been spending time with Brien talking about the Philadelphia market. I leave with the confidence that he has a deep commitment to the future success of our news organization.
I could not be more proud to have worked with each and every one of you on some of the most important and compelling stories of my career. Certainly this week’s outstanding news coverage of the Amtrak tragedy is typical of the level of journalism that I have been honored to lead at the station. I’ll be in Boston early next week for graduation ceremonies, but hope to talk to each of you when I get back on Wednesday.
Susan
So now the big question, who takes over? Does anyone want to open bets on Mike Caputa from WCCO? Crank up the rumor mill.
