Longtime Tampa Reporter Dies
/Longtime WTVT (Tampa) Reporter Warren Elly died after losing his fight with cancer.
Elly worked at the station for nearly three decades before retiring.
Elly came to Tampa in 1982 from Youngstown, Ohio. He cut his Bay Area reporting teeth in St. Pete and Pinellas County. Then Tampa became Elly base, where he covered the police beat, courts, politics, and beyond -- all the way to deep space.
After Elly was diagnosed with cancer, he started writing a daily blog for all to see. He wrote, "I'm not resigned to anything except the fight. With each tick of the clock, I am more determined to fight."
The fight has ended and Warren Elly is dead at age 64.
