South Carolina Reporter Killed in Car Accident

Just two days before Christmas, WPDE (Myrtle Beach) Reporter Jordan Schuman was killed in a car accident in Union County, NC.

Troopers said that Schuman, age 22, died in a three-vehicle crash, after she drove through a stop sign. Troopers say 2 other vehicles crashed into Schuman’s car.

Schuman was a multimedia journalist at the Florence-Myrtle Beach station. She was on her way to Charlotte to spend Christmas with a friend’s family, according to social media posts.

“Every time we report on a deadly crash, we know we’re reporting on someone’s wife, brother, daughter or best friend. There’s always a human side to the tragedy,” WPDE wrote on their website about Schuman.

“We don’t always get to report what someone meant to their family or friends. Often, they’re too grief-stricken to talk to us, and we respect that.”
