Josh Elliott is Out at NBC

Back in March 2014, Good Morning America was leading the Today Show in the ratings.
The Peacock hired GMA Anchor Josh Elliott away from ABC in hopes it might hurt their ratings. Now, the Today Show is back on top of the ratings and Josh Elliott, who never really did anything at NBC is out of a job.
Elliott made the choice back in 2014 to take the money and run. But, NBC never really had a plan for him at NBC and while he was put into NBC Sports, there really wasn't much for him to do.
“Josh and NBC Sports mutually decided to part ways,” an NBC spokesperson “and we wish him the best of luck in the future.”
Many thought that NBC hired Elliott as a back up plan to Matt Lauer. Lauer was still stinging for his role in getting Ann Curry booted from the Today Show and some inside thought Elliott would be a good plan "B".
But like a cat, Lauer showed he had more lives left and both he and the Today Show rebounded. There was no longer a use for Elliott and now he's gone.
And NBC does it all just before Christmas where the story will die with no legs to run.
