You might have read the news on other TV blogs that former KTVU personality Pat McCormick had died.

"Former KTVU personality Pat McCormick has died at the age of 82." wrote TVSpy.

Well, KTVU posted a story to their website that quotes Pat McCormick as saying that he is still alive.

"KTVU personality Pat McCormick says he’s alive and well, despite reports of his passing. KTVU reached McCormick Tuesday at his home in Oregon, where he apologized for the misunderstanding." KTVU writes on

“This is a personal situation and my family wants privacy at this time,” McCormick said.

His son, Steve McCormick, who told people his Dad had died, said he believed his father had passed away and was stunned by the news that he was alive.

He did not want to discuss what happened, but said he was “devastated” that he shared the news and was “truly sorry” to his father’s fans.

This is taking a sweeps stunt to a whole new level.
