Back to Bean Town

Anchor Doug Meehan is headed back to Boston.

Meehan spent years in Bean Town working in both TV and Radio before heading to KPNX in Phoenix to anchor the news.

Meehan joins WCVB as Weekend Morning Anchor and General Assignment Reporter beginning Saturday, December 19 as announced today by Bill Fine, WCVB President and General Manager.

"We are delighted to have Doug join WCVB's winning team of journalists, and we know his local roots, as well as his experience covering the region, will be great assets to our news organization," said Fine when making the announcement. "I'm sure viewers will be happy to see Doug back on Boston television."

"No other station in Boston has more local journalists who are dedicated to serving our community than WCVB, and the addition of Doug bolsters that expertise and commitment," said Andrew Vrees, News Director. "We think our viewers recognize and appreciate that, and we thank them for making us 'Boston's News Leader.'"

"I am thrilled to be joining WCVB NewsCenter5 and to be coming home to Boston which is where my heart is," said Meehan. "Having grown up in West Yarmouth, and having worked in broadcasting in Boston for nearly twenty years, I have always recognized WCVB as the gold standard, the quintessential local news, and my long-time favorite…it's an honor to be a part of the outstanding team."
