Stepping Down in Columbus

A longtime Columbus Anchor says that he is leaving the station, just not quite yet.

WCMH Anchorman Cabot Rea announced on the air that he plans to retire in December.

Rea, 60, said in an interview after the newscast that he had been contemplating the move for a while. “For a lot of reasons, it’s time for me to move on.”

Rea said he will leave the station on the 30th anniversary of his start.

When he joined the television station, Rea started as a weekend anchor and features reporter.

Rea and Colleen Marshall have enjoyed one of the longer tenures as co-anchors in Columbus television. They began to share the anchor desk in 1992.
