A News Photographer at KWES in Midland, TX was on his way to a story when his news vehicle left the roadway, overcorrected and went into a side skid. The Scion then crossed into the opposite lane of the road and hit a 2001 Saturn SL1 traveling the other direction.

The driver of the Saturn, 61-year-old Robert Kounce of Midland was killed in the accident.

The driver of news car was 28-year-old Jerome Chavez, who is KWES photographer and was driving to a story.

Chavez was injured in the accident and underwent surgery yesterday.
