What the Hail was That?

KIRO Meteorologist Morgan Palmer was sitting on a commuter plane in Abilene, Texas.

A nasty storm was hitting the runway and Palmer broke out his phone to shoot some video out of the plane's window. You could not see much, but before long you could hear a lot.

Very large hail started bouncing off the aircraft and it was LOUD. In fact after the hailstorm, the plane had to head back to the gate because it was damaged.

Hail the size of softballs was reported in the area.
