NBC has finally confirmed the worst kept secret maybe ever.

Jimmy Fallon is taking over the Tonight Show from Jay Leno.

NBC sent out a press release saying that "Jay Leno announces his departure from the Tonight Show." Of course this is total B.S., Leno would have stayed at the Tonight Show until they took him out feet first.

But, after meeting with NBC, Leno decided to fall of his sword and go along with the whole "yeah I'm leaving thing."

In the press release put out by NBC, they quoted Leno: “Congratulations Jimmy.  I hope you're as lucky as me and hold on to the job until you're the old guy. If you need me, I'll be at the garage.”

Forget the garage, word is that Fox is interested in bringing Leno over, but of course all that talk will have to wait.

Leno will be staying on the Tonight Show while the transition takes place.

NBC confirmed the already widely reported news that the Tonight will be moving from LA to New York when Fallon takes over.

So in other words NBC announced what everyone already knew. Kind of like reading the newspaper in the morning.
