Out the Door on the First Coast

Joy Purdy at at WTVL/WJXX in Jacksonville, FL is leaving to....all together now.... spend more time with her family.

"I have been trying to figure out what to do at a crossroads in my life. I was recently offered the main anchor spot here at FCN, the 11 p.m. newscast. So exciting! However, after much prayer, and countless family discussions ... I've instead decided to take a break from work to spend time with my family," says Purdy.

"I admire Joy's ability to face such a difficult choice and make a decision that fits her family's needs. We'll miss her, and the contributions she's made to make First Coast News ... first with our viewers," says Eric Land, President and General Manager of First Coast News.

​Purdy returned to Jacksonville from Miami in September of 2007 to co-anchor First Coast News at 7 p.m. Two years later, she was bumped to Good Morning Jacksonville weekday mornings.
