KOLN/KGIN (Lincoln) anchor Vanessa Flowers will return to the air at 5 p.m. Monday after recovering from an illness.

"According to doctors, I've experienced paralysis to my left vocal cord due to a virus," said Flowers, who has been off the air for more than a month.

"It has definitely been a difficult and frustrating time for me," she added. "Luckily, I now feel I am on the downswing of the illness and can't wait to fully be back on the anchor desk once again."

Susan Ramsett, KOLN news director, said Flowers will anchor one newscast -- she regularly does the noon and 5 p.m. news -- until her voice becomes stronger.

"If all goes well, she and I are both hoping she can return to the noon newscast next week," Ramsett said.

Flowers continued to work during her on-air absence, Ramsett said. She helped produce newscasts and wrote stories for the station's Website.
