Former Anchor to Return to Station As Producer

Here's something you don't see very often.

A former TV Anchor returns to her old station, but as a Producer this time.

WWAY (Wilmington, NC) Anchor Marcy Cuevas signed off from the station in 2012. Now, she is coming back to WWAY as a Producer of  a new newscast the station will launch early next year.

Marcy Cuevas will be the producer for the station's 10 p.m. newscast that starts Jan. 6, 2014, on The Cape Fear CW.

Cuevas started at WWAY in August 1999. In Sept. 2012 she decided to take on a new role as full-time mom to her three young children. During her 14 years at the station, Marcy moved up from reporter to eventually anchor every newscast at some point. She is perhaps best known for her time as anchor of "Good Morning Carolina" from Jan. 2006 until the fall of 2011.

The station says that after a year away from the station, though, she decided she missed the news business and wondered if there might be a job available that would let her spend the day with her kids and get her news fix at night. They say life is about timing, and it clearly is, because we had just started searching for a part-time producer for The Cape Fear CW 10 p.m. newscast.

The station hired her back.

WWAY says viewers won't see much of  Cuevas on air. Her role now is behind the camera.
