An email about our Patron story on KOB in Albuquerque.

I just saw your post about KOB, and honestly, it doesn’t surprise me one bit. I used to work in news in ABQ, but never at KOB. Still, I’m super close with a few people who did, and the stories they’ve shared about the dysfunction there are absolutely wild. It’s all about bad management—totally unqualified people making questionable decisions day in and day out. A friend of mine mentioned that they really don’t like it when people speak up; she said, “management takes things too personally.” I’ve also heard that the on-camera people can be really tough to work with. What a mess! Now I totally get why my friends either left or just decided to bail on the industry. It’s such a shame because when good people leave or get pushed out, the quality really suffers, and viewers are the ones who pay the price. I’ve tuned in a few times when I’m in town, and honestly, it’s not great. I’m really glad I made the switch away from news. PR isn’t perfect, but at least I’m not dealing with this kind of nonsense!

An Email about Journalism dying.

It's been dead.  The dancing, posting on social media of selfies when the story you're covering is tragic.  Posting selfies when it's not tragic , nor is it about you so why am I seeing your face and not the story? Weather folks can't give us a weather update with graphics because they have to be in the photo so the creeps in the comments can gush over them.  It's a strange world we live in now.  So many make everything about them when we'd like to see the real story and maybe some weather actually reported online instead of a "look at me" moment.

I was very surprised to see Capitol Broadcasting's WRAZ on the FOX Local App which until seeing this, I assumed it was only for the O&O stations.  WRAZ is the lone station on there that isn't owned by The Firm, at the time I saw it they were airing the 7am portion of WRAL's WRAZ show as normal.
