Allen Media and Magid
/I received this email from an Allen Media employee and will share it without comment.
Scott,
I wanted to reach out regarding the recent cuts and restructuring at Allen Media.
While it’s easy to point fingers at local station managers, the truth is that a significant portion of these changes and proposals are coming from Magid, the consulting firm the company pays thousands of dollars to each month.
Magid’a advice has consistently seemed out of touch with the realities of smaller markets. They often visit stations and point to practices at larger newsrooms - where staffing is typically triple the size of smaller stations.
It’s frustrating to see the burden placed on local managers when much of the direction is being shaped by consultants with little understanding of the challenges smaller markets face.
If we are going to talk about accountability, it’s important to include Magid in the conversation as well.
