The Inbox...

A number of you sent emails about TV talent taking money or pimping companies on social media.

We thought we would share a few of those emails:

Scott,

I can’t believe what on air people are shilling these days.  When I got hired in TV news I had to sign a form that I would not accept payola in return for any promotion or product placement in any story or outright receiving something of value.  I believe there was a minimum we could accept, for example a bag of chips at the potato chip factory opening or a tee shirt at the printing company who was making shirts for the local school championship.  In my day I worked with coworkers who would not even accept that small value item.  I can only imagine the cost of botox and the audacity to promote it.  I call that double dipping.  She gets the botox and the company gets free publicity.

Email:

Scott,

The sad part is the fact that many of these kids don’t even know that taking freebies is wrong.

If you do a paid partnership, you should be fired, period!

Email:

Dear FTVLive,

I don’t blame the kids as much as a blame their bosses that allow them to get away with this.

My advice is to suspend the talent and fire the boss.
