Scammers Pose as O-Town News Director

About 20 news employees at WKMG in Orlando received a text from their boss; at least, it looked like it was from their boss.

Meteorologist Samara Cokinos was one of those who received a text from WKMG News Director Allison McGinley.

It said, ‘Hi Samara, let me know if you get this text, Allison McGinley.” Cokinos responded back and got this reply:

Since the tests were asking the staff to buy gift cards, none of those that got a text fell for the scam.

Also, scammers should know that in TV news, no one is offered extra compensation.

The scammers need to pick another industry.
