Blowing Smoke in Tulsa

When Sinclair gutted KTUL in Tulsa and moved much of the news operation to Oklahoma City, it was clear that Sinclair cared only about money and not the Tulsa viewers nor the staff at KTUL.

The station got rid of the GM and brought in Amy Calvert, who was let go by Scripps-owned KJRH.

For Calvert, it was akin to being handed the steering wheel of the Titanic after it hit the iceberg.

In KTUL’s May newsletter, Calvert tried to make it sound like everything is roses and apple pie, but as one staffer said, “notes like this won’t fix the fundamental problem.”

It would have been nice if she hadn’t tried to tell everyone how great things are when, clearly, that is nowhere near reality.

Be an honest boss.
