As FTVLive FIRST told you, the layoffs have started at Allen Media Group.

FTVLive FIRST reported last week that cuts were going to go down, and we said that they were likely to start this week.

That’s precisely what happened.

We spoke to one Allen employee who said they were called to a meeting, told the company is “restructuring” and that the employee’s job was eliminated. The employee said, “I was escorted out of the building like I was some kind of criminal.”

Another source tells FTVLive that around 20 people at The Weather Channel have been kicked to the curb. “That’s how many so far, I’m sure more cuts are coming,” the source said.

FTVLive is also told that longtime WTHI (Terre Haute) Sports Director Ricky Semmler was also one of those who was cut. Semmler has been in the market for over 20 years and has been the SD at WTHI since 2009.

An insider says that impacted employees are being offered just two weeks' severance and asked to sign an NDA.

I urge any of you who have been made this offer not to sign the NDA. Giving up your voice for just two weeks’ pay is not worth it.
