Let’s see what has you guys talking.

In regards to Scripps hiring controversial consultant McKinsey.

This company is notorious for doing nothing other than cutting jobs on a massive scale. Anytime a leader of your company says McKinsey is hired - my advice is to stop work - get the resume out - brush it off - and immediately start to work on finding another employer.

They're notorious for hiring fresh out of college grads who have no concept of what a company does, how it's structured, or where it operates and having them question and pepper one or two points of contact for a week at a time, then they just simply develop an org chart and slash it with no accounting for what a department does.

In the case of TV - they will just say "let's get rid of all of master control because they aren't actually on TV!" They'll target employees with 25 plus years or more of experience because their salary grades can be cut and allow you to hire new talent to come in at a third of the cost. They'll target new employees because "they've not settled in and it should be easy for them to get laid off because they can go find work somewhere else as they're still able to be developed."

McKinsey is nuts.

Yet, leaders still keep buying their bullshit and hiring them.

Wow, wow, wow on your post.

I did a quick google on DuJuan McCoy - pulled up results for "Circle City Broadcasting Leadership" - was expecting to click on it and see a team ... and instead you just see a self-serving page for DuJuan McCoy.

First, kudos to him for being an Indianapolis native, taking an interest in owning and operating a business in his hometown and looking to build something.

Unfortunately, it stops there.

With him being the only one on the leadership page - he's probably not going to be interested in the advice and counsel of anyone who is supposed to be in the trenches day to day and operate the department.

Sure, he won all those awards - how many are merited? As we've learned with the Emmys, just shake a couple of hands and pay an invoice and hey, it's yours.

In his email signature, it's "owner, president, and CEO." It's clear when you add all this together and that email blast he sent out, especially in its short form, he's not interested in helping nurture or develop the career of those who work at the station, he's only interested in how they can prop up his ego.

My advice for them - look for any loophole they can get the hell out as soon as possible.

The opposite of what Hank Price wrote about non competes will happen. Stations will scramble to change contract language and the best they’ll come up with is a “right to match” clause. That will create bidding wars among stations who want to keep top talent resulting in HIGHER salaries.

Hank has a strong track record of being wrong.
