Shaver announced he is leaving Tegna’s KARE after the May book. "I'm retiring from TV new/sports after 41 1/2 years at KARE," Shaver announced, "Please accept my sincere gratitude for everything."

Shaver started at KARE on New Year’s Day in 1983, working in sports. He moved to news in 2012 and will shut down in 2024.
