This is Tegna...

Tegna’s KING in Seattle posted a story that said, “To comfortably afford rent in Seattle, the typical household needs to make $89,000 a year…”

But here’s the bullshit.

KING posted a Producer job that listed the Compensation Range: $28.85/hr - $37.02.

So, let’s say the job pays somewhere in the middle at $32 bucks an hour. That works out to $66,560, which is way under the $89K that the station reports is needed to live in Seattle.

Even if KING paid the high end (which you know they won’t) and gave the Producer $37.02 an hour, that comes out to $77,002 a year, or still more than $10,000 less than KING says you need to live in the market.

No wonder why people don’t want to work in TV news; they aren’t even getting a salary that is close to a living wage.

Shame on Tegna!
