This coming Monday, the trial of former WHO-TV (Des Monies) Anchor Sonya Heitshusen against Nexstar is set to start.

Heitshusen is suing Nexstar for age and gender discrimination.

WHO GM Bobby Tousch and News Director Rod Peterson are named in the suit.

“Where are all the women who are in TV broadcasting over 50? You don’t see women on TV with gray hair and wrinkles,” Heitshusen said at the time she filed the lawsuit back in 2021. “It has to change. Women are relevant after the age of 50. They have a lot of great ideas. They are hard workers and can make a difference.”

Sources tell FTVLive that Heitshusen refused to settle her case and is content with going to trial and trying to change TV news for the better.

FTVLive hears that several current on-air talent have been served subpoenas to testify for the defense.
