Cops Clamp the Cuffs on Myrtle Beach Anchor

Police arrested WMBF’s Sports Director after they say he threatened to kill a bar owner.

It happened after the Super Bowl, when police say a highly intoxicated Dave Ackert was arrested by Horry County Police and charged with public intoxication.

The person who called police said Ackert had entered a bar through the backdoor and ordered a beer, according to the incident report.

After seeing how Ackert was acting, the owner of the bar confiscated the beer due to the Sports Anchor being “highly intoxicated.”

It was then that Ackert threatened to kill the bar owners. Ackert was escorted out of the bar where he continued to threaten people outside the establishment.

The Gray TV station refused to issue a comment on the matter.

According to his station bio, Ackert joined the station in September 2022.
