Picket Line Set Up Outside Sinclair Station

Many employees at Sinclair-owned WGME (Portland, ME) headed out in the cold weather to set up and informational picket line.

An information picket is not a strike, but informs the public about the dispute from employees’ perspective.

The IBEW union said it set up the picket because Sinclair has agreed to meet just once since early September. The union contract expires on Saturday.

In a in market where a 2 bedroom apartment rents for north of $2200 a month, employees see a desperate need for higher wages. “Many employees face the tough reality that they can’t afford to live in the communities” they serve, the union said.

Sinclair did not comment on the picket line.
