Fired Cleveland Anchor Sues Station/Tegna

Hollie Strano was busted by police after crashing her car. She pleaded guilty to driving drunk and continued to be employed by Tegna’s WKYC.

Then, months later, she says she was fired from the station. In a social media post, Strano wrote, “I am sad to share that after 22 plus years of dedicated work, WKYC and Tegna decided to terminate my employment after I shared my recovery journey publicly.”

This week, according to court documents, Strano filed a lawsuit against WKYC/Tegna and WKYC GM Micki Byrnes.

Obviously, if WKYC fired Strano shortly after her arrest and being found guilty, it is likely that she would have no case. But, the fact that WKYC kept her employed for months after the incident, and then fired her, her case might be a bit stronger.

We’ll have to wait and see how this one plays out.
