Good Morning Scott!!! Been a minute since I decided to write you but I had to get a little something off my chest in regards to WLOX finally having the stones to fire former Anchor Dave Elliot last week after he basically said "Let me proceed to take a double-barreled shotgun to my career and SHOOT IT TO HELL by throwing my FORTY-PLUS YEARS in the toilet and showing my bias towards Kamala Harris by telling voters supporting her to stay home while D-riding Donald Trump and Elon Musk..."
This really smacked of the same BS that Kari Lake pulled back in 2021 when she was spotted at the CPAC when she was supposed to be "sick" and then her bosses at the FOX station wanted to call her to the carpet, only to have her "resign" and not fact the fact that she got caught in 4K putting her love for the Lying Cheeto ahead of her journalistic ethics. This of course would in turn lead to her own failed bid to become Governor of Arizona and her multiple losses in the court which...WAIT FOR IT...made her out to be just like Trump in being a complete sore loser and perpetual pain in America's ass.
Elliott and Lake are both sad examples of how their internalized bias ultimately became an externalized one and it led to them both facing what happens when you press the FAFO button. I am not happy with Elliot's behavior because he tagged not only Elon the Moron in nearly every post he put on Twitter but he also tagged Juanita Broderick, the woman who accused former President Bill Clinton of sexual assaulting her years ago and who is a staunch supporter of Donald Trump which is such a dichotomous situation given that he is notorious for his many allegations of SA against him. SERIOUSLY?!?!
Elliot should be completely ashamed that he threw a near HALF a CENTURY of journalistic respect into the woodchipper just to stand next to Trump and not realize that in this advance news age that ONE video and one action can be the death knell for anyone's career. Do I feel sorry for him? Absolutely NOT. Hopefully he will see that his decision to die on GQP Hill was not the flex he thought it would be.
About the Gray TV cuts and merging two markets newsrooms.

Hey Scott:
Long time reader, first time writer leaving my thoughts on the KTTC/KEYC consolidation.
I've lived in both the Mankato and Rochester market, and it's absolutely a sense of bittersweetness. KTTC's morning show was a fixture in my house growing up and I have a great amount of respect for Jess and Ted, the longtime morning and midday show, and I'm excited for them and this opportunity for a larger audience. That's where my excitement stops.
The Mankato (and frankly industry follower) side of me is frankly disturbed at what's going on here. We've seen Gray consolidate resources most notably in Sioux Falls, which with that you could at least argue "It's the same market, so consolidating resources under one roof isn't the worst idea." Now, half of KEYC's news staff is gone and you're left with 5, 6, and 10 PM newscasts locally and a couple local shows while claiming simulcasting Rochester's 9 PM newscast and a weekend morning show which may or may not cover Mankato and south central MN stories (Remember, KTTC/KXLT has a pretty sizable footprint too in MN/IA) is "adding news"? Make it make sense for the viewer.
In regards to Scripps tanking stock…

I took another look and Scripps actually missed analysts earnings estimates of .52/share and came in at .37/share. That’s one way to make the stock tank… Even with the strong political….
Here’s the CEO quote in the call with analysts which is now transcribed on the website, “You can see we remain committed to holding down costs in the local media division. We are confident in our ability to actually better serve our local audiences and advertisers while leveraging innovative and more efficient approaches to news production.”
