Gray Merges Stations After Cuts
/WTVY (Dothan) was one of the Gray stations rocked by layoffs recently, and now the news product will be vastly watered down.
Gray announced that starting this week, WTVY will “combine resources” with WSFA in Montgomery.
“WTVY and WSFA combine resources during a joint 4 p.m. newscast; WSFA 12 News at 5 p.m. provides extensive coverage of Alabama news, including comprehensive reporting on Alabama’s state government,” Gray said.
In other words, viewers in both markets will receive less news on the market they are interested in.
But, BUT, Gray saves a ton of money.
And, let’s be honest, that is the only goal here.
