CNN Has Become an Also Ran

CNN has lost their way and it appears that they aren’t finding their way home anytime soon.

A tight political race should be right up CNN’s alley, but they are now just an afterthought.

For the month of October, MSNBC drew 70% more viewers than CNN in the average minute (903,000 vs. 532,000), according to Nielsen. Compared to four years ago, MSNBC has quadrupled its viewership advantage over CNN in the month prior to the election (+87,000 viewers to +371,000).

This month marks MSNBC’s 31st consecutive monthly viewership win over CNN, and year to date, MSNBC has its largest viewership advantage over CNN in network history (+68%).

CNN boss Mark Thompson is trying to repair the damage done by Jeff Zucker, but so far he hasn’t made the big moves that need to be made.

That leaves CNN floundering near the bottom of the ratings pool.
