Scott,
Reading the Scripps CEO letter to employees makes me wonder if he thinks employees are that dumb. Towards the end of his memo he states that the economy for 2024 “doesn’t look like the rebound we were all hoping for”. Scripps has two stations in Ohio and I know of at least one in Arizona. Both state have US senate seats on the November ballot. Ohio has three republicans in their primary and all three have been advertising heavily. Once the November election starts heating up ad spending will be through the roof. Throw in the presidential race and Adam Symson will be laughing all the way to the bank.
Thanks

Scott,
While I don't work in the news business, I'm a fan of your website and visit often. Seeing too many of these "smiling selfies" at tragic incidents has got me thinking about coming up with a litmus test for reporters who want to do this the next time they are at one of these scenes and feel the need to post.
To anyone who things this it is okay to cheese while someone else is suffering, ask yourself this: Would it be okay if someone going to a cemetery and defiling your closest loved one's grave? And if you're okay with it I then want you to go to your family and announce (like at Thanksgiving dinner) that you would be ok with someone defiling said loved one's grave. If your parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, or best friends all tell you that it is okay then go right on ahead. Also, post a video on social media of the dinner, I bet that it goes over well.
Short story long, while I understand the thirst to draw attention to yourself (like a lot of people do), and being around tragedy does tend to bring out cynicism, you do not have to forget your empathy and that someone isn't coming home and it happened 30 yards from where you're taking that selfie.
You have my blessing to put this up on the site. Keep up the good work!
