More Cuts at Spectrum

Viewers who watch Spectrum News in the Syracuse and Rochester/Buffalo markets are losing their local news.

In another cost-cutting move, Spectrum is ditching local news, for a single newscast produced and anchored out of Albany.

The company is eliminating the morning shows in the Syracuse and Rochester/Buffalo markets in favor of “Your Morning” hosted by Albany-based anchors Julie Chapman and Dan Bazile.

Here’s the bullshit spin from Spectrum. “As part of an effort to provide a cohesive news experience for our viewers in upstate New York, Spectrum News 1 will now feature one networked morning show that integrates stories from all of our upstate markets into a single newscast, complemented by hyperlocal headlines and weather,” said Maureen Huff,  the vice president of public relations for Spectrum networks. “This shift mirrors our other dayparts and will provide viewers a consistent approach to their news from morning to night with even more news from across the entire upstate region.”

Spin it how you want; this is all about saving money and nothing else.
