Sinclair Station Swings and Misses on Animal Story
/Sinclair’s WOAI reported that the San Antonio Zoo was responsible for the death of an escaped porcupine.
WOAI ran a story stating that the Zoo had been cited by the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture after an escaped female porcupine was found dead.
Just one problem: the porcupine was never kept at the zoo.
San Antonio Zoo CEO Tim Morrow rightfully teed off on the Sinclair station. "You falsely reported that [the San Antonio Zoo] was cited by USDA for the death of a porcupine," Morrow wrote on Twitter. "This was not San Antonio Zoo. It was an aquarium located in Leon Valley. Please correct and update public."
Twelve hours later, the station corrected the inaccurate story.
