Disney, Spectrum Settle Pissing Match
/Get ready for your cable bill to increase if you’re a Spectrum customer.
Disney announced that they have ended their retrans pissing match with Spectrum, which means the Disney channels are back for viewers to watch.
While Nexstar has remained off of DirecTV for months, the Disney/Spectrum retrans battle did not last very long.
The reason? Disney has high-profile content and channels that viewers watch and care about. Nexstar does not bring that clout to the table and, therefore is not a priority for DirecTV.
The longer Nexstar stays off the system, the more viewers realize they don’t need those channels and they become an afterthought.
Nexstar is losing this battle.
Disney won, but the customer will again be asked to pay even more for their cable.
It’s just one more nail in the coffin of TV broadcasting.
