Philly Reporter Assaulted As Part of TikTok Challenge
/Man, TikTok is a fucked up platform….
WTXF Fox 29 traffic anchor Bob Kelly made a triumphant return to the air on Tuesday, just two days after being assaulted at a pub on the Jersey Shore. During his appearance on Good Day Philadelphia, Kelly took a moment to thank his supporters for their overwhelming concern during his recent ordeal.
In a live shot (posted below) Kelly expressed his heartfelt appreciation to his fans, saying, "Thank you so much for all of the messages on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, cell phone, texting, all concerned about me. I'm OK."
The incident occurred on Sunday evening during an event at Oar House Pub in Sea Isle City, where Kelly was emceeing. A young man, who later turned out to have filmed himself pouring beer on Kelly, unleashed an unexpected and violent attack on the beloved Philly TV personality. Prompt action by the vigilant pub bouncers led to the assailant's swift apprehension and subsequent arrest.
As he appeared on live television Tuesday morning, the damage from the assault was still visible on Kelly's face. Recounting the harrowing event, Kelly mentioned that it was a frightening and disturbing experience, linking the attack to a TikTok challenge that has been gaining traction lately. This challenge bears a resemblance to the one Cardi B faced, with participants filming themselves engaging in aggressive acts, which they then share on social media platforms.
Despite the visible bruising, Bob Kelly's indomitable spirit and trademark positivity were ever-present during his TV appearance. Having been a cherished fixture on morning television in Philadelphia for over two decades, Kelly demonstrated his unwavering determination to push forward and continue to connect with his loyal viewers.
"I'm ready to go. I'm on the beach with a cup of coffee. Let's do it," said Kelly, exuding his characteristic energy and enthusiasm, as he vowed to continue his responsibilities as a traffic anchor.
The incident has sparked conversations about the impact of viral challenges on social media platforms and the potential dangers they pose when taken to the real world. Authorities are closely monitoring such trends and urging users to exercise caution and responsibility while participating in online challenges.
