Longtime Nexstar News Director is Out

The staff at Nexstar’s WCIA were sent an internal memo informing them that longtime News Director Andy Miller is leaving the Champaign station early next month.

This is the email that WCIA GM Larry Forsgren sent to the staff and was obatined by FTVLive.

Team,

This may be the most difficult message I ever had to write. I am sorry to announce that after 19 years Andy Miller has decided it is time for a new challenge. Andy's last day with us will be Friday

August 4th.. We know that Andy will be successful in all his future endeavors. And yes, he plans to be at all the Our Towns through August 4, 2023.

Andy has been a vital member of Nexstar Star since he joined WCIA as an intern. Over the years he worked his way up the ladder. Producer, Executive Producer and eventually News Director. In 2016 Andy joined the corporate team as Director of Local Content Development. Andy had oversight of 24 stations in his corporate role. Two years ago, Andy returned to WCIA as the Interim News Director.

It was truly a blessing when Andy agreed to stay on dropping the Interim from his title. Andy's has been a true leader leading to the growth of WCIA / WCIX over these past two years. Andy is an excellent example of what it means to be "Clearly #1". He will be missed by all of us.

The search for our new News Director has begun.
