Jeff Zucker Demands Retraction, But...
/Variety came out with a story claiming that disgraced former CNN boss Jeff Zucker has been trying to find investors to secure funding to purchase CNN.
The Variety story says that Zucker is deeply bitter about his firing from CNN in 2022 and looking to buy the network back as retaliation.
Zucker and his camp claim the article is false and they Zucker wants Variety to issue a retraction.
But, judging by FTVLive’s history with Zucker, I’m not sure Variety should make the retraction.
Back in 2009, FTVLive FIRST reported in a worldwide EXCLUSIVE that NBC (headed at the time by Jeff Zucker) was going to cancel Jay Leno’s prime-time TV show and move him back to 11:30 PM.
NBC and Jeff Zucker denied FTVLive’s report.
A short time later, NBC canceled Leno and moved him back to 11:30 PM.
Back in 2006, FTVLive FIRST reported that Zucker-led NBC was going to layoff between 500-800 employees.
NBC and Jeff Zucker denied our story and then went on to layoff 700 employees shortly after we posted the story.
So, the fact that Jeff Zucker is denying the Variety story makes me believe the story is dead on the money.
I don’t know much about Variety’s track record, but I know Jeff Zucker’s.
Just saying…
