The Rest Of the Story...
/Yesterday, FTVLive told you about a Twitter post from KPHO/KTVK Reporter Alexis Dominguez who posted about how cars were damaged by the heat that has plagued Arizona for weeks now.
When Dominguez was called out for leaving a key fact out of her post, she didn’t fix it, she just doubled down.
Now, as Paul Harvey would say, here’s “the rest of the story….”
Dominguez pays the money to have a blue checkmark after her name on Twitter. She points that out in a pinned tweet at the top of her page.
Another “perk” that comes with paying for your blue check is you get to post tweets that are up to 25,000 characters long.
So, when Dominguez writes, ”Pretty sure there is a word limit”, her limit is 25,000 characters. Which means she clearly had enough space to add the words “propane tank” to her post. In fact, she had 24,767 characters left to work with.
Instead of just acknowledging you screwed up and left out a key component of the story, your thought is to push back.
This is why journalism is struggling with gaining the trust of the viewers.
