When Bob Iger said that he may look to sell ABC Television and the ABC O&O’s it got a lot of TV news people nervous.

Most of the ABC O&O’s are the No. 1 stations in their respective market and Disney is still thinking about selling them off.

Earlier this week, Iger met with some of the ABC TV executives to try and calm the waters a bit after he seriously rocked the boat.

In talking about ABC News, Iger said, “I’m ridiculously passionate about news. It’s important to this company. We need to figure out how it makes the transition into streaming. And I happen to believe we will endure. It’s too good, it’s too important, and it’s really fun.”

One ABC employee told FTVLive, “I think we all know that Bob Iger would drop us in a second if he thought it would boost the stock price.”

Iger’s attempt the calm the folks at ABC basically landed on deaf ears.
