Why I Quit Nexstar's News Nation
/Many people have quit Nexstar’s News Nation since the cable network launched.
Basically, the entire management team hired to launch the channel all quit within months of going on the air.
News Nation has only gotten worse since.
Here is what one person that recently quit the cable station had to say was the reasons for doing so.
“I left -with no new job and no prospects-- but could not bear to stay and work for such evil people-- literally the enemies of journalism. The submersible 'death clock' is but one example; there are countless others.
Management continues to hire wildly unqualified children from minor markets all over the country-- paying them peanuts while telling them they've made it to the 'network.' The suckers actually believe it. This is a team tasked with turning money-losing WGN America into a loss-leader by repurposing small-market content from the Nexstar 'nation' using retreads from actual networks who were generally fired for narcissistic behavior, substance abuse and/or actual sexual abuse.
What's most interesting is the failure of these 'journalists' to raise the alarm about daily editorial malpractice. Take Elizabeth Vargas, who talks about anchoring the station's 'newscast of record' and 'earning trust every day,' yet fails to speak up about a death clock sharing the screen with her during what were believed to be the final minutes for the crew of the Titan. These are truly sick people who care only about getting paid and grasping (almost certainly in vain) for some sort of relevance. Behind the scenes, no one has a clue what they are doing or how to do it. The afternoon and AM EPs are the worst offenders -and still mystified why no one is watching. It would be comical if it wasn't so sad.
No surprise, the entirety of the original management team left within months of launch, along with all of the best on-air and behind-the-scenes talent. They have -to a person- landed great jobs at great shops, while NN continues to fall apart. They're hiring writers and producers from OAN and recently landed a 'correspondent' with no notable on-air experience but who listed prominently on his resume his involvement with the San Diego Young Republicans. Their failure is not a mystery.”
