Of Course He Is...
/Why did the Tegna/Standard General deal die?
Many people have their thoughts on what happened, and there are a number of people that blame Byron Allen for torpedoing the deal.
Some believe that Allen used his political influence to get politicians to sound off to the FCC and delay the deal long enough for Standard General’s financing to fall through.
You may remember that Allen was making a play for Tegna when Standard General stepped up with a better offer.
With them out of the way, Allen says he is still interested in buying Tegna.
“It’s more challenging, but there’s a way to get a deal done of that size,” he said on Bloomberg Television. “It’s key to be clear with regulators of what you want to do. I don’t think we will have an issue there whatsoever.”
I can guarantee that shot he took at Soo Kim’s Standard General did not go unnoticed.
As for Tegna employees, you may get to enjoy the we’re getting sold fun all over again.
