Leaving the Business *

After nearly a decade of waking up early each morning to bring viewers the latest weather forecasts, Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini has decided to step away from the morning show at WHIO (Dayton) and embark on a new adventure. While she will be missed by viewers and coworkers alike, Zontini's decision to leave TV was driven by her desire to spend more time with her family.

Zontini has been a familiar face in homes across the Miami Valley, bringing her expertise to bear on weather forecasting for television, radio, and online platforms. Her hard work and dedication have earned her a loyal following, and her presence on the airwaves will be missed.

Throughout her tenure at WHIO, Zontini has had many memorable experiences. She has flown with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, co-hosted the Cloudy with a Chance of Podcast with Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs, and visited schools across the Miami Valley to help educate children about science and the atmosphere.

Zontini's decision to leave WHIO was not an easy one. She has developed a strong bond with the people of the Miami Valley, and she feels privileged to have been welcomed into their homes each morning. "The Miami Valley has embraced me and let me into their homes each morning," she said. "I feel honored to all who have woken up with me each morning on Daybreak! I got married here, had my two sweet daughters, and went through major surgery. Each time I stepped away, I felt the love and support from the people of the Miami Valley. I am so grateful I have been able to grow as a person, a meteorologist, and a communicator."

While Zontini's departure from WHIO is bittersweet, she is excited about her new role at Kroger. She will be joining the internal communications team, a new challenge that she is eager to embrace. Even as she leaves TV behind, Zontini will remain a part of the Miami Valley community, and she is grateful for the support that she has received throughout her time at WHIO.
