Pittsburgh Reporter Getting Death Threats

Sources in the Burgh tell FTVLive that a local Reporter is receiving death threats after a subject of the Reporter’s story died by suicide earlier this week.

The Reporter did a number of stories on the man and his tree-cutting business which was a nuisance to neighbors.

The Reporter’s stories were factual, and the man that owned the tree service was subjected to court action.

Apparently, the man took his own life, and many of the guy’s friends and associates are blaming the Reporter.

The Reporter went to the station’s human resources on Wednesday and was sent home from work. Hopefully, the station is making sure she is safe.

I have seen this happen in the past, and the fact that a subject of a news story kills themself, it can take a big toll on those that worked on the story.

But you are doing your job, and if the subject of the story followed the law and didn’t do what they did, they would have never ended up on the news in the first place.

Blaming the station or the Reporter is an easy out, but it is not the correct thing to do.

I feel for the Reporter, but they did their job; they reported the story, and the fact that the subject is now dead is not any fault of the Reporter.

As for those that are making death threats against the Reporter, hopefully, the police will find those responsible.
