MMJ Seriously Injured While Covering Crash

An MMJ for a local news station in Ontario remains in the hospital after being hit by a car while covering a crash. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon. CTV MMJ, Stephanie Villella, was at the scene of a two-vehicle crash that had happened earlier in the day. She was gathering images when she was struck by a sedan at the intersection of two roads that had been closed and barricaded by police. Villella was transported to a trauma center with serious and potentially life-threatening injuries.

There is no word yet on possible charges in the case. Ontario Provincial Police Constable Josh Cunningham said that the extent of the victim's injuries could play a role in determining charges in the investigation. The section of road where the crash happened was closed into the evening while reconstructionists and witnesses investigated the incident.

The incident serves as a reminder of the risks faced by journalists and emergency responders who work to keep the public informed and safe.
