Scary Moments for a Pittsburgh Reporter

On Wednesday afternoon, several high schools in Pittsburgh were targeted in a series of hoax active shooter calls, leading to the dismissal of students and a massive police response. Although there were no reports of injuries, the calls caused panic and fear among parents, students, and school officials.

One of those caught in the chaos was Marcie Cipriani, a reporter for WTAE, whose daughter Eve attends Oakland Catholic High School. Speaking with her mother outside the school after the incident, Eve described the terrifying moments when she and her classmates were told to go into lockdown and hide.

The hoax calls led to a massive police response, with law enforcement officers quickly descending on the schools in question. Despite an extensive search, no active shooter was found at any location.

As the situation unfolded, parents and students were reunited, with many expressing relief that the incident had turned out to be a false alarm. While the incident was a reminder of the ongoing threat of school shootings, it also highlighted the importance of quick and effective response by law enforcement and school officials in the face of such threats.
