He Got the Hours he Wanted

Here’s a guy that stuck to his guns and got what he wanted from the Nexstar station in Buffalo.

WIVB Chief Meteorologist Todd Santos has signed a new three-year contract that will provide him with a better work-life balance. This comes a year after Santos expressed his desire to have more flexibility to spend time with his wife and three young children.

Santos, who has been with the station for almost a decade, had even offered to give up his title as chief meteorologist in 2022 to achieve a better work-life balance. However, he did not have to go that far, and the station has now given him a new deal that suits his needs.

Under the new contract, Santos will work from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. as the weather anchor for the noon, 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 6 p.m. newscasts. The noon and 6 p.m. newscasts are new assignments for Santos, and his reduced hours will allow him to spend more time with his family.

Santos, a Rhode Island native, expressed his love for Buffalo and his intention to stay at Channel 4 even after his status at the station was put into question. The station had posted a job opening for chief meteorologist, and Santos had started working part-time.

Santos has now signed a new contract that brings him back to full-time with a better work-life balance, which he says is a huge improvement for someone in his position with young kids. He will still do fill-ins and storm coverage days, but the most significant benefit is being able to spend time with his children.
