Nasty Weather, But No Newscast

Sunday night, a tornado outbreak damaged hundreds of homes in Oklahoma, injured dozens and killed one person.

It was a big enough event that stations were field anchoring it Monday.

But, the Oklahoma City news leader was nowhere to be found as the storms hit.

KWTV didn't run a newscast Monday night at 10.

The station kicked off the hour with 4 minutes of promos before punching into the newscast of their sister station, KOTV in Tulsa.

KOTV’s newscast has no mention of the tornadoes in the a-block.

KWTV told a viewer on Twitter it was "technical difficulties.”

You might remember that KWTV recently moved into their brand new “state of the art” station.

Insiders tell FTVLive that after the 6:00 news they were doing work on the audio board and something got messed up.

“You HAVE to put on a newscast at 10pm every night, no matter what. Especially on a day that there are legitimate public safety concerns and viewers need you,” said one station insider.

I agree that you need to find a way, even if you are doing a newscast out of a livetruck with no video. You need to be there.
