The Newspaper on TV

Newspapers in the past have tried to launch some sort of newscasts in the past.

Often, the on-air product looked like newspaper people trying to do TV news.

But, the Boston Globe is now going to try their hand at TV news.

The Globe one of the most respected newspapers in the United States, is expanding its reach with a new daily newscast called Boston Globe Today.

The half-hour show will air on New England Sports Network (NESN) and stream on the NESN 360 app, the Globe app, and Globe.com.

The paper says that the show will provide an in-depth perspective on major news, politics, business, and entertainment stories and their impact on New Englanders. It will air Monday through Friday at 5 p.m., with a focus on news from Monday to Thursday and sports on Friday.

“We are continuously improving the ways that we deliver vital news and information to our community and are excited to build a television show that will bring the Globe’s award-winning journalism to a broader audience,” said Linda Henry, Boston Globe Media CEO. “Boston Globe Today reflects our commitment to serve our community, invest in local journalism, and for Boston Globe Media to be an innovative news leader.”

The newscast will be hosted by Segun Oduolowu from Monday to Thursday and Christopher Gasper of the Boston Globe on Fridays. The show will air from a studio in the Boston Globe newsroom, providing viewers with a behind-the-scenes look at the newspaper's operations.

Oduolowu, who has previously hosted People (The TV Show!) and Scripps program The List, expressed his excitement at joining the Boston Globe Today team, saying, “I look forward to diving into the stories affecting this historic city and New England at large, drawing on the considerable talents of the Globe newsroom.”
