Like We Said....
/Back in January in a Patron Only story, FTVLive told you that the eight CBS-owned CW affiliates would not be airing the Saudi Arabian back LIV Golf events scheduled for the CW.
LIV Golf tried to find a broadcast partner and was unable to do so. They finally approached Nexstar (CW owner) and made a deal to pay Nexstar money to run the golf events on the CW.
Back on January 31st, FTVLive wrote, “Many have been critical of Nexstar for taking what some say is "blood money" from the Saudis. Sources now tell FTVLive that CBS Television, which owns 8 CW affiliates, is looking to drop the CW after Nexstar entered into the LIV deal.”
Deadline came out with a story saying that LIV golf “will air in 100 percent of its markets across the United States.”
That is not the case.
Nexstar has been scrambling to find outlets to make up for the stations that are refusing to air the controversial golf tour.
Some of those stations will be airing the events on their little-watched digital channels.
As FTVLive FIRST told you, CBS never planned on airing the Liv Tour on the CW stations that they own.
Don’t be surprised if those CBS-owned CW stations don’t end up leaving The CW altogether later this year.
Nexstar has decided to take the blood money from the Saudis, but some media groups are saying no thanks.
